I drew inspiration for this diorama from a drawing by Kan Liu @666kart

The desert background in the drawing reminded me of the backgrounds in 80's airbrush paintings of chrome robots (eg. Hajime Sorayama), and I wanted to convey the effect of the skyline in behind the girl. So I went with a cyclorama background and lots of chrome, trying to blend the foreground into it convincingly.

Everything in the diorama is hand-made. The girl and bike is constructed with apoxie sculpt and greenstuff over an armature of wire and plastic bits, and the backdrop is made from chipboard, cork and foam. I aimed to pose the model so it would look as if she was sitting on the bike, instead of holding up the bike.

The girl is 37mm tall to eye-line, and the entire diorma is 175mm tall.
